Guys and Gals,
Next semester in NBU (Spring 2011) I will teach Telecom Management Networks (TCMM-311). The course covers the following aspects:
- General Network Architecture and why do we need network management at all
- TMN (Telecom Management Network) architecture http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telecommunications_Management_Network
- OSS (Operation support systems)/BSS (Business Support Systems) integration models like eTOM
- Network Management Protocols like SNMP, CMIP
Then the course will go to its second and a bit more practical phase. In it we will try to install and configure some Open Source tools for network Management (Monitoring) including:
If there is enough time also:
I will try also to organize one or two external visits in OSS/BSS Vendors, System Integrators or Network Operators so we will be able to see also how that stuff really works ….
Please find here the full course agenda.
Cheers,
Nikolay
PS: If you are a OSS/BSS Vendor, System Integrator or Network Operator and have interest to show your products related to the course please give me a hint at nmilovanov{AT}nbu.bg
